If you need medical assistance, the team at Regency Walk-In Clinic will be more than happy to welcome you to our facilities. The following information will help you get on the road to recovery quickly!
How to Know if You Need Urgent Care or Emergency Care
We take pride in offering comprehensive medical care for a wide variety of urgent needs, but it’s important to know the difference between “urgent care” and “emergency care.”
Urgent care offers treatment for medical concerns that are not immediately life-threatening and are not likely to require hospitalization. The following conditions are considered urgent:
- Abdominal pain/nausea/vomiting
- Rash
- Allergic reactions (non-life-threatening discoloration, inflammation, hives, or rash)
- Animal bites
- Back pain/strain
- Bladder infections/urinary tract infections (UTI)
- Cold/cough/flu/fever
- STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections)
- Kidney infections/Urinary tract infections
However, in the event of a medical emergency, you should dial 911 immediately for transport to an emergency room. Any condition that would require immediate surgery, hospitalization, and continual medical monitoring is considered an emergency and should be addressed in an emergency room. Additionally, any condition involving a loss of consciousness should be addressed in an emergency room.
For symptoms that could require a specialist’s care and possibly multiple screenings, urgent care might be appropriate if a provider cannot be seen immediately.
